Food Tracker

Compare · Food Tracker vs HealthifyMe

A free alternative to HealthifyMe.

HealthifyMe is the app most people in India already have on their phone. Its Indian food database is the best there is, and its coaches and plans are the business. The free tier is the doorway to those plans: Snap photo logging and the Ria assistant are limited or paid, and the app reminds you often. Food Tracker has no plans to sell. Your own ChatGPT or Claude does the logging, including the photo and the voice note, and the free versions of both work.

Why people look for a HealthifyMe alternative

The free tier is good enough to log a few meals a day by search, and that is where it stays. Snap, the photo feature, and Ria, the AI assistant, are the reasons to use the app, and 2026 reviews agree they are limited for free users and full in the paid plans. The plans start around ₹2,499 a year for the AI tier and rise steeply once a coach is involved.

If you wanted a coach, that is fair value. If you only wanted to point your camera at your lunch, it is a subscription for one feature, inside an app that keeps asking you to upgrade.

What is different about Food Tracker

You send ChatGPT or Claude a photo of the thali, a voice note, or a line like “two rotis, dal and a bowl of curd”. It works out the items and portions, the calories, the macros and seventeen micronutrients, asks about the ghee or the oil if it cannot tell, shows you the numbers and logs the meal when you agree. Micronutrients are compared with Indian RDAs from ICMR-NIN, and targets are suggested from your own body details and goal.

There is no database, which cuts both ways: no entry is ever missing, and the numbers are estimates you check rather than figures looked up. Food Tracker is free because no AI runs inside it. The assistant you already use does the work, on its free tier if that is what you have.

Where HealthifyMe is still better

  • Human coaches, diet plans and the CGM programmes. Food Tracker has none of these.
  • A curated Indian food database: the most complete list of regional dishes anywhere.
  • Hindi and regional-language support, step counting and device integrations.
  • A large community and a company you can call.

Switch to Food Tracker if

  • You only wanted photo or voice logging, not a coach.
  • You are tired of upgrade prompts.
  • You already use ChatGPT or Claude every day.
  • Your clinic or gym wants to run a programme under its own name rather than send patients to a third-party app.
